Changing Lives, One home, water well at a time
Because of you, Lives are changing! Here’s a snippet of what your generosity did in the Dominican Republic.
“I’ll be a cashier” said the bright, but resigned 15 year old girl standing before us.
“What is your dream though?” We asked, although she’d clearly given up dreaming at such a tender age.
“I would like to be a cop…because there is so much crime here,” she replied.
When even a child’s dreams are riddled with sadness, and are given up before they’ve even had a chance, you know something is terribly wrong.
This was a moment snipped out of a telling conversation we had with one of the strong people of the Dominican Republic last week.
The need is great. Dreams are dying every day as children face the realities of a polarized country where the poor and rich never meet; where crime and poverty stamp out the spark of imagination in their eyes.
Thankfully, our partners at Missions.me believe it doesn’t have to stay this way. With their vision, and your generosity, things are changing, dreams are growing and families are thriving!
Through 1Nation1Day a few of us had the incredible privilege and honor of standing with the brave teachers and children of a local Dominican Republic elementary school as we opened and dedicated their own water well! They had lived without clean water for the entire school day, but now they can thrive. As immediate needs are met, children can turn their focus toward their studies and more importantly their future.
As you turn on the faucet today, consider the great work God has done through your generosity, and praise Him with us!
We were also able to open two homes, one for a wonderful family of four and another for a man who lives with his caring mother, so she can tend to his illness. What a gift it was to be a part of providing shelter for our brothers and sisters in the Dominican Republic.
The fact remains that while we truly celebrate the ability to meet the needs of these children and families, there is so much more to be done. A hundred homes would hardly have scratched the surface.
Today though, we rejoice in the two, which would have been impossible without your commitment to give of yourselves! You made this happen! Thank you so much for caring enough to do something.
We praise God for you and ask for your continued prayers for this ministry, and for the people of the Dominican Republic.
